While fork wielding minions seem to be keeping a low profile, there are quite a few suspicious looking crimson-skinned people everywhere...maybe because it's as hot as Hades here. The food they serve around here may taste great (read: fried and very unhealthy), but Moctezuma usually gets his revenge in the end. Yes, I am speaking of Texas. There do not seem to be multiple levels to this place--it's all pretty flat. While it may not conform to our worst visions of Hell, Texas could easily double for Limbo on one of these sweltering summer days."
I wrote this paragraph a year ago to the day. Seems like yesterday. And while some things have changed (I actually feel competent as a grad student now!), many other things have not (I still can't wait to join the love of my life in Tennessee in a year's time and it is *still* hot as Hades here).Wheelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03052555245113969189noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6593148186619341861.post-778051879776975542011-03-17T00:26:00.000-07:002011-03-17T11:21:02.665-07:00Here goes nothingStarting a blog seems like an innocent enough activity to engage in while on one's Spring Break. There are a couple of things I should note from the beginning:

1) I must admit, rather sheepishly, that writing a blog is something I promised myself a while ago that I would never do and I'm not entirely sure why I'm doing so now. Blogging feels like yelling into a vacuum. Psychologically rewarding? For me, perhaps...but ultimately, I want this to be more than a collection of random ramblings. I want my thoughtblog to be more than just interesting. Redemptive. Edifying. If I get away from that I'll be deleting it soon after.

2) The title of this blog will no doubt prove true--I will almost certainly blog no more than once a month. If this prediction proves false, no one will be more surprised than I.

It's late and I am going to need some sleep for a big game of Risk in a few hours, so for now, buenas noches.Wheelshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03052555245113969189noreply@blogger.com0
